UAE National Day

Client: Pico Productions LLC
Scope: Temporary installation of flags and banners
National Days are a cause for celebration and those celebrations usually have rigging requirements of one sort or another. Unusual Rigging & Engineering has been involved with many such events in the region, where our knowledge and experience of major national and international events really comes to the fore. Whether it’s a Spidercam for a large scale stadium event, the lighting rig for a stage and video wall or hanging banners in shopping malls, safety and security are top priorities.

In some instances what would appear to be a straightforward installation can often be quite complex. Hanging flags or banners, for example, should be easy, but not all buildings are designed with the necessary suspension points. The weight of the item being suspended also needs to be taken into consideration, and suspension points have to be secure and able to carry loads safely. Time can also be an issue: projects in shopping malls necessitate the work being carried out when the mall is closed and most people are asleep.

As the UAE celebrated its 47th National Day, Unusual Rigging & Engineering LLC was contracted by Pico Productions LLC to provide a temporary installation of flags and banners at Yas Mall, World Trade Centre Mall Abu Dhabi and Jimi Mal Al Ain. This was achieved with the use of SWR to create the required suspension points and wave effect.

The celebrations featured a dazzling array of traditional Emirati activities and entertainment marking the 2018 Year of Zayed and showcased the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahya.
