Elwin studied for a BSc in Marine Engineering in the Phillipines before taking up a position as a marine engineer (oiler) at Ocean Jet Fast Ferries Corporation in the Phillipines. Here he was responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment on ferries. Elwin also worked in construction before moving to the UAE and taking up a position as trainee rigger here at Unusual Rigging.
