Unusual Rigging & Engineering gets behind opening celebrations at Qasr Al Hosn

1st January 2019

Qasr Al Hosn is the oldest and most significant heritage site in Abu Dhabi city which, during its history, has been home to the ruling family, the seat of government, the consultative council and the national archives. Now a national monument, it traces the city’s development from a settlement reliant on fishing and pearling in the 18th Century, to today’s modern, global metropolis.

As part of the week-long opening celebrations in December 2018, Projex Events Services LLC asked Unusual Rigging & Engineering to design, supply and install the points and rigging for two art installations. A total of five rope sets were fixed at ground level, dramatically rising up the building under tension. The exterior installation used 40mm ropes, while the interior installations, where the four rope sets went from ground level, up the side of the building and then back down to ground level, used 20mm ropes. Unusual Rigging & Engineering supplied all fasteners and fixing for both steel and concreate pad, ground level and higher level brackets and custom frames.
